I think businesses can be largely broken down into 4 camps, when thinking about how important IT is for them;
- IT is critical to the business, revenue relies on it and better IT will improve the company bottom line
- IT is important to the business, Revenue does not directly rely on IT but IT systems are considered strategic and part of the Companies growth plans
- IT is a necessary evil and used as a means to an end
- We don't use IT in our business
Clearly business into business in the first two categories can derive most benefit from using the latest and greatest technologies and would normally be open minded about the delivery mechanisms, which one is your business?
