Here's a screenshot of Outlook 2010. It's simple and been edited to protect the identity of the end-user as this has been leaked out, it's not an official release.
I like the look of the cleaner interface and the new ribbon, including a Quick Steps menu - common forward tasks to Team, Manager, FYI. You can see the Ignore button too.
There's a peek of the new Office logo as well - I expect an outburst of logos and colour schemes based on this new orange over the next year!

I think Outlook 2010 will look very good, when I install again my tiny little toolbar for lookeen, which makes my work with Outlook so much easier. Although there have been improvements concerning the search, lookeen is still better. It doesn't need for example a lot of energie to index my mails (when I wouldn't know that lookeen is indexing my mails, I wouldn't notice it, while working with my computer).

Thanks for Xobni reference Dan - looks really useful (although I'm not sure how you pronounce it) - Wish I'd spotted the patch link earlier so thanks for that too.

Hi James, there are claims (again) of search performance improvements in 2010. Most significantly are indexing improvements in Exchange. OWA 2010 search is more akin to Outlook now.
I use Xobni to help me with mailbox search. Works a treat.
While we're talking of perofrmance, there's a recent patch which helps OL2007 http://www.cob-blog.com/cobweb/2009/02/outlook-ost-and-pst-performance-boost.html

Not really much of a surprise though is it Dan. What are they doing about poor performance of Outlook 2007 in new release? If I compare searching Gmail with my current Outlook 2007 experiences it is just so much more superior and sets pretty high expectations for email search performance.
